Part 2: Tis’ the Season

Seed Upgraders: Light, Season, Planting and Soil

How are you?

So, if you read last week’s correspondence then you know that we’re in a short series about entitled Seed Upgraders: Light, Seasons, Planting and Soil.  I started this series so that we could gather a further understanding of how each one of these factors affects the harvest of our seed.  There is always seed and there is always a harvest, but these are the upgraders, the sources that if used correctly, can help to elevate our seed… our harvest.

What I didn’t say last week, is that we as women are known as the keepers and nurturers of seed. Now, if you’re about to get on me because you hate the patriarchy, give me a second to explain.

We serve as the project managers for ‘seed projects’ from the beginning to the end. We’ve been known to birth babies that they turn into amazing human beings, take houses and turn them into homes, and channel the emotions of our loved ones and turn them into empowerment and fierce defense.

For further understanding, let’s look at the definition of seed.  A seed is:

The propagative source of something. The sperm. The offspring. The ovum or ova.

When used with an object, it means to sow; to place in the hopes of a profit; to develop or stimulate.

Ok, Women of Judah, let’s talk more about figurative seed now.  A seed can be anything you can give of yourself. This includes your goals, plan, purpose, talents, dreams, time, money, faith, hope or love.

And it really blew my mind when I looked at one definition of “harvest” (which is what we receive at the end of this process), “a supply of anything gathered at maturity…”

Just think about this. You can seek the harvest of your time, energy and love and you grow, nurture and develop your goals, your dreams, your time. Your womanhood.  That harvest is something to invest in.

As you think about your harvest of becoming a better woman and being a true #goaldigger, I’d like to discuss our next topic to elevate our harvest, SEASONS!

To start, I did some research on actual plants and seeds, and found out that the extent to which harvest is plentiful or not, depends on the seed you planted and the time you planted it.

So, why is there any importance of certain planting times? Root growth and establishment!  If the temperature goes awry, the short transplant (late planting) can’t get established well enough to set a good harvest of fruit.

Planting early ensures that they have more time to establish ahead of the heat and planting late ensures that there is simply not enough time to develop fruit before a freeze or heatwave. Worse, pests, disease and stressed plants (people that aren’t supposed to be along on your journey, distractors, and stressors) can become a problem.

Considering these things about seeds, on our journey to reaping a harvest (achieving our goals) we must:

1: SOW OUR SEEDS WITH OUR HARVEST IN MIND.

In Galatians 6:7, the Word states, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”

In Luke 6:38, Jesus says that if you give “you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap.

This is an important tenet of sowing and reaping. If you are desiring a harvest in your life, one thing for sure is that you can’t reap if you don’t sow! Y’all, this doesn’t just mean, finances. Sometimes, you’ll sow your time and talents and reap peace.

However, keep in mind that the heart behind the gift is the most important piece. Don’t sow things reluctantly. Kenneth Copeland said, that “When you give in sorrow, there is no faith, so there is no return. So, sow your seed in joy and you will reap a harvest!”

2: SOW OUR SEEDS IN THE MORNING.

“Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening sowing will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good” (Ecclesiastes 11:6).

There is a reason why so many successful people are intentional about how they start their day. Our scripture reference explains that we must start the day (projects, introductions, whatever) well because we never know what’s coming. In other words, let’s do the good and hard work early and let go of the “I’m gonna’s”. This could mean starting that business or book God gave you with a well-defined plan or research, or it could simply be a reminder to start your day with Him, your affirmations and/or nourishing your body.

Remember what is ideal for one of you, may not work for the next, but the one thing that sets people apart is how they intentionally start something.

3: SOW AND SPEAK

A big part of this process is what you do while you’re waiting for your harvest. We must water and tend to each seed we sow by speaking God’s Word over it. We must believe Him for a harvest of blessing and keep doing the important things.

Galatians 6:9, says “So, let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

Woman of Judah, here Paul does not say, “You (we) may reap;” he says, “You (we) will reap if you do not give up.”

Our harvest is certain, and our harvest is coming. Let’s do the work!

Next week don’t miss out on the importance of planting.
