09 Jul You Are the Sunshine!
Have you ever (for sure) known that God orchestrated an assignment or relationship, yet that very one is the one that tests your gangsta daily?
Have you ever stayed in the car a little longer than usual before entering a building or avoided conservations with that particular person because you are just not in the mood?
Have you ever not seen the purpose in an assignment because it seems that his, her, or its only purpose in life is to vex you?
Well – I have!
And Women of Judah, I have news that you might not want to hear: But — God positions us in those dark (see: uncomfortable) places because he wants us to be the light; he wants to grow and spread light through the darkness. He wants us to grow our character.
One of the most popular, simple kid-friendly science experiments that teachers like to perform studies the transmission of light, which, in essence, demonstrates how light moves. In these experiments, it is often revealed that light can only be transmitted in three different ways; it either penetrates, reflects, or stops.
The Bible frequently uses the imagery of light to refer to God, holiness, and faith, and the world uses it to refer to something that you turn on so that you can see better. And both have often made me wonder what Jesus meant when He spoke in the Sermon on the Mount and uttered – “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14) to His people”.
Have you wondered how to show up as ‘light’? How to be the ‘light’ that He requires?Jesus’s message asked us to be the light, and science tells us that light penetrates, reflects, or stops:
Light that penetrates is light that is fully understood or realized by someone. It is God’s love and goodness personified. The light of God can penetrate the hearts of wo(men).
Light that reflects is light given back or exhibited as an image, likeness, or outline. It is God’s love given back to you. Have you ever been in a situation where someone with the light of God walked into a room? They did not have to be a speaker or touch everyone – but their mere presence enhanced the energy room; their light and love seemed to bounce from person to person. Or the pay-it-forward movement where one act of kindness started a ripple effect of kind acts worldwide.
Light that stops is light that stops the darkness of the enemy. I believe that having the right person in the right place can stop a move of the enemy, whether that person is praying or moving in obedience.
In every relationship, assignment, job, calling, service opportunity, family event, [insert place where you are assigned, but tested – here], remember that you, my friend, are ‘LIGHT ’and that your light stops, penetrates, and reflects. Reflect on how you can shine in the spaces and relationships you frequent. How can you show up, Woman of Judah? How can you be a light?
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
