19 Apr Holy Friday
Every year when Holy week approaches thankfulness begins to well up in my heart. But after having a child there is more thankfulness and a better understanding of what this time really means. I’m finally understanding God’s greatest gift to us, the sacrifice of sending His only son to die for the sake of mankind.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
What is so powerful about this?
He paid for our entire sin debt … as well as ALL sins of ALL people for ALL time with His life. Then, He rose on the third day, having stripped the devil of his powers and authority (Colossians 2:15). It looked like He would lose, but He won!
He did this:
…so that we could have eternal life (John 3:16),
…so that we could win (John 10:10),
…so that we’d be healed (1 Peter 2:24),
…so that we can be reconciled (Roman 5:10),
…so that we’d have a relationship with Him (Acts 17:27),
…and so that we’d have authority (Luke 10:18-19).
This means that He’s made sure that we can win also! In everything we do, we must remember that His resurrection power flows through our veins. Nothing can stop us!
Let’s challenge ourselves to make full use of the remaining months by dedicating time back to him in relationship and prayer (hopefully using your journal), so that by the Spirit, He may reveal His plans to us for our victory.
Philippians 4:13 says, “I (we) can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
